NOKUT staff win EAIE’s Bo Gregersen Award for Best Practice

Stig Arne Skjerven and Marina Malgina of the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) have been awarded the Bo Gregersen Award for Best Practice for 2017 by the European Association for International Education (EAIE).

They receive the award for the NOKUT-supported project European Qualifications Passport for Refugees and their longstanding work on the recognition of refugees’ qualifications.

‘The award is a major acknowledgment of NOKUT's work on the approval and assessment of refugees’ qualifications. Many of NOKUT's employees are involved in this work. The main goal of the European Qualifications Passport for Refugees is to make access to further studies and work easier for refugees,’ says Terje Mørland, director general of NOKUT.

The Bo Gregersen Award acknowledges individuals or groups of individuals who have made an innovative contribution to the field of international higher education that has served as a best practice to others, and is the EAIE’s most prestigious award.

The award was presented during the opening plenary of the 2017 EAIE conference in Seville in Spain on 13 September. The annual EAIE conference gathers more than 5000 professionals from all over the world and is the largest international higher education event of its kind in Europe.

NOKUT has decided to accredit Professional studies in Psychology at the University of Stavanger (UiS). Consequently, the university can apply to the Ministry of Education to establish the study program.
