New recognition scheme for foreign tertiary vocational education
Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) has now opened a new recognition scheme for persons with foreign tertiary vocational education.
NOKUT’s recognition of foreign tertiary vocational education is voluntary and can be used as a tool in the Norwegian job market or for admission to further education in Norway.
In Norway, tertiary vocational education provides vocational education founded on upper secondary education or equivalent prior learning and work experience. It comprises the equivalent of at least one-half and no more than three entire academic years.
– With the new recognition scheme, NOKUT now covers large parts of the education system. We already recognize foreign vocational education and training, and foreign higher education, says Terje Mørland, Director General of NOKUT.
The new recognition scheme is for persons with a completed foreign tertiary vocational education. It includes an assessment of the education in comparison to the Norwegian education system. The applicant gets an assessment of the level and scope of the education, and what it usually can be used for in the country where it is completed. The assessment is document-based, and does not assess the vocational content of the education.
