If you lack documentation for your education, or you have been informed that your documentation does not meet the requirements for recognition, you can make use of a special recognition procedure specifically developed for refugees.
You can apply for this type of recognition if:
- You have a formal higher education from a university or a university college abroad.
- You are a refugee, displaced person or a person in a refugee-like situation.
- You lack all documentation of your qualifications, or you have been informed that your documentation does not meet the requirements for general recognition.
- You have education from a country where the political situation currently makes it impossible to verify educational documents.
Proficiency in Norwegian or English is desirable as you will have to describe and explain details about your education in an interview.
You are responsible for finding a Norwegian university or university college that offers an education similar to your own. Information about all Norwegian educational institutions is available online. If you wish to apply for further studies, it is advisable to apply for recognition at the educational institution where you wish to enter.
You must submit a written application to the educational institution in question.
