On the following page you will find detailed information on what educational documents are necessary to assess an application, and how these documents should be submitted. Before we can process your application, all necessary documentation must be submitted.
Translations
All original documents such as diplomas and transcripts of records, not issued in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English, must be translated into one of the aforementioned languages. This must be done by an authorized translator either in Norway or in the country of origin.
Please note that original translations will not be returned to the applicant, so it is advisable to send a certified copy, and not the original translation.
Officially certified copies
NOKUT requires officially certified copies of all documentation. A certified copy shows that the copy has been made from the original document. It is important to understand that this is not a verification of the content of the document. Please note that certified copies will not be returned to the applicant.
NOKUT will accept certified copies of original documents only when they meet the following criteria:
- They are stamped, dated and signed by an employee at an educational institution, police, lawyer, certified copying agency or another public authority (state/county).
NOKUT will not accept:
- Certified copies made from copies.
- Certified copies made from Apostille, with the exception of translations.
- Handwritten copies of educational documents.
If the submitted attestation is unsatisfactory we reserve the right to request new certified copies.
Transcript Request Form
From some countries, it is required that the transcript of records be sent to NOKUT directly from the educational institution. You will find a list of the relevant countries in the database on required documentation.
A form is available in English which can be used to contact the educational institution in question. By sending this form, you permit the educational institution to send your transcript directly to NOKUT.
