Department of Quality Assurance

The Department of Quality Assurance is responsible for the external quality assurance of educational provision in universities, university colleges, higher education colleges and tertiary vocational colleges. This involves both controlling the institutions’ provision and internal quality assurance processes and recommending improvements. The instruments for performing these tasks include evaluations of institutions' quality assurance systems, accreditation of institutions, accreditation of new study programmes and revising the accreditation of existing study programmes.

Department of Analysis and Development

The Department of Analysis and Development carries out evaluations, research projects and analyses to generate, collate and present information that may help educational institutions and the authorities in their development activities. The department assists in developing NOKUT's range of evaluation and quality assurance instruments and is responsible for handling statistics and quantitative data. The department collaborates with NOKUT's other departments and external organisations on individual projects.

Department of Foreign Education

The Department of Foreign Education handles applications from individuals for the recognition of their foreign higher education qualifications. The department is the Norwegian link in the ENIC and NARIC networks, with responsibility for providing information about foreign education and for providing national and international recognition.

INVIA Information centre

The INVIA Information centre is the gateway for all users who want information about the recognition of foreign higher education, and a common face to the outside world of the Norwegian bodies that recognise or provide authorisations based on foreign higher education qualifications. Since it opened in March 2010, the centre provides information about the various recognition schemes and directs members of the public to the right recognition or authorisation bodies. The centre also provides information about the EU directive on the recognition of professional qualifications for regulated professions.
